Tang began whimpering and lay down beside her, making it clear that she wasn’t leaving without helping. Zach Hearn thought his family was complete, but his two dogs, Tang and Cream, had other ideas.
Earlier this month, during a routine walk, the two pups came across a tiny creature crying for help and immediately sprang into action.
“Tang and Cream suddenly stopped and looked confused,” Hearn told The Dodo. “You could hear a faint meow in the distance, so both of them ran ahead to investigate.”
Although Hearn initially couldn’t see where the sound was coming from, his dogs managed to find a small kitten, just 3 to 4 weeks old, lying helplessly in the middle of the street.
The kitten was dirty and frail, with no mother in sight. Hearn worried that his golden retriever and King Charles Cavalier might scare the tiny cat, but the dogs instinctively knew exactly what to do.
Realizing he couldn’t leave the kitten alone, Hearn gently picked her up and took her home. There, he and his girlfriend set up a cozy space for her to rest, gave her a much-needed bath, and provided her with food.
It was clear the kitten had been on her own for quite some time, but with care and nourishment, she quickly began to regain her strength.
