After enduring unimaginable cruelty, a pregnant dog named Maggie defied all odds—surviving 17 gunshot wounds, finding a loving forever home, and becoming a registered therapy dog. Now five years old, Maggie is nothing short of a miracle, having overcome hardships that few could ever imagine.
Animals have a way of teaching us profound lessons, offering insights that we might not have discovered otherwise. This belief is beautifully exemplified by Maggie, a dog whose resilience and spirit have touched the hearts of many.
Maggie’s journey to survival is nothing short of extraordinary. She was found in Lebanon in a horrific state—her eyes had been shot out, one of her ears was severed, and her jaw was broken. Shockingly, she had been shot 17 times before being left to die on the streets. To make matters even more heartbreaking, she was also pregnant at the time.
But Maggie’s story didn’t end there. Rescued by the Wild At Heart Foundation, she was eventually adopted by a compassionate animal lover named Kasey, who brought her to Brighton, United Kingdom.
Despite the trauma and suffering she had endured, Maggie transformed into a beacon of hope. She became a registered therapy dog, using her own story of survival to comfort and inspire others. Her journey has resonated with thousands, earning her a large following on Instagram.
“This person in Lebanon reached out for help, and a woman in London saw the post and took action,” Kasey told The Argus. “Wild At Heart agreed to take her in, even though getting pets out of Lebanon is quite difficult. When my mother saw Maggie’s story, she suggested we adopt her. As soon as I saw her photo, I knew we had to bring her home.”
After six months of dedicated online efforts, Maggie was finally able to leave Lebanon, and she has been thriving ever since. Now with over 80,000 social media followers, Maggie spends her time visiting hospitals, nursing homes, and universities, bringing comfort to those in need.
Having passed all the necessary exams, Maggie is now a certified therapy dog with Underdog International. “She and I will be speaking at schools and working closely with young people,” Kasey shared.
“What happened to Maggie was truly horrific, but if her story can educate and inspire others to spread kindness, then we can at least help make the world a little brighter.”
A heartfelt thank you to Kasey for giving Maggie the second chance she so rightly deserves. Maggie’s courage, strength, and unwavering spirit serve as an inspiration to us all. We wish this incredible dog nothing but love and happiness in her future.
