Meet Bailey, a sweet and gentle senior dog who understands that showing love to others is its own reward.
Bailey was just a couple of years old when she was rescued in 2007 by her loving owners, Arthur and his wonderful family. Before that, she had been used solely for breeding—likely having litter after litter of puppies, only to be separated from them time and again.
Now, at the age of 17, Bailey has proven that her nurturing instincts remain strong, allowing her loyalty and kindness to shine.
It all started a few months ago when Bailey and her family moved to a home in the countryside.
Shortly after settling in, they suspected that a feral cat was living in a gorge near their property. They left out food in hopes of spotting the elusive feline, but no sighting ever followed. Meanwhile, it seemed Bailey had already taken matters into her own paws.
According to Arthur, Bailey often visited the yard, keeping a watchful eye on something.
At first, her family wasn’t quite sure what she was up to—until one day, they looked out the window and saw a heartwarming sight.
There, curled up on the porch, was Bailey. But she wasn’t alone. Nestled against her warm body was a small feral kitten, safe and sound beside her unlikely new friend.
Arthur shared that Bailey had never bonded with a wild animal before, but this only further proved her loving nature. She had always been a caring soul.
Seeing that Bailey had gained the trust of the timid little kitten, the family decided to do the same. They welcomed the kitten into their home and their hearts, giving her the name Kitten-Kitten.
According to Arthur, Kitten-Kitten has now fully settled into their home. She follows Bailey everywhere, much like a puppy, and has become an inseparable part of the family.
For the first time in her life, Bailey not only got to be a mother, but she also got to remain one for good.
Arthur shared that Kitten-Kitten is affectionate with everyone in the household, especially Bailey, and has truly blossomed in their care.
At 17 years old, Bailey finally fulfilled her lifelong role as a mother. Her love for Kitten-Kitten became a lifesaving act of kindness.
With colder months approaching, Bailey’s family believes that Kitten-Kitten may not have survived much longer on her own. But thanks to Bailey’s gentle heart, both she and the tiny kitten were given a second chance—and in the process, their hearts were healed.
