This story is heartbreaking at first, but it has a happy ending.
When rescuers from Harbin SHS arrived at a property in Harbin, China, they found over 2,000 dogs. However, one particular dog stood out for the saddest reason.
Among all the dogs, there was a Husky puppy who was visibly terrified. She sat frozen in a corner, too scared to move. Her fur was filthy and matted with dirt and feces. She was malnourished and had clearly been neglected for a long time.
The rescuers decided to take her in and named her Harriet. As soon as she was placed in the vehicle, she curled up in a volunteer’s lap, finally feeling safe for the first time.
At the veterinary clinic, doctors estimated Harriet to be around eight months old. Though she had already endured so much suffering at such a young age, she was now in caring hands and on the path to recovery.
Aside from her visible condition, Harriet was found to be relatively healthy. The first step in her healing journey was a thorough bath and a much-needed grooming session to remove her matted fur.
She was then taken to the rescue center, where she spent the next two months recovering. As time passed, her fur grew back, and she slowly came out of her shell. She transformed into a loving and friendly puppy, ready to find her forever home.
A woman from Canada named Rose Vallee saw Harriet’s photo online and instantly knew she wanted to adopt her. A volunteer accompanied Harriet on a flight to San Francisco, where she would finally meet her new mother and begin her new life full of love and happiness.
