Mother Dog Abandoned by Owner, Both Legs Crushed by Train, Still Fights to Care for Her Four Small Pups
The heartbreaking plight of abandoned stray dogs is enough to bring anyone to tears. However, few mother dogs display the same level of courage, resilience, and devotion to their young as Si Bao.
After being cruelly abandoned by her owner, Si Bao suffered a devastating accident when a train crushed her hind legs. Her future seemed bleak, but everything changed when she gave birth to four beautiful and healthy puppies. Her little ones became the source of strength that gave her life new meaning.
Despite her injuries, Si Bao remained determined to care for her puppies. She adapted by walking on her two front legs, never taking her eyes off her little ones, ensuring they were safe and cared for.
Si Bao’s luck took a turn for the better when the nonprofit organization Animals Asia, founded by Jill Robinson, rescued her and her family. Recognizing her incredible resilience, they made her an animal ambassador. She was relocated to the organization’s headquarters, where she could start a new life alongside her only surviving pup, Muddie, instead of scavenging for scraps along the train tracks.
As part of her new journey, Si Bao was given a new name—Lelly—and plans were set in motion to provide her with wheeled prosthetic legs to improve her mobility. Sadly, three of her four puppies passed away due to high fever before the rescue, leaving only Muddie by her side.
Now, Lelly enjoys a much better life as an ambassador for Animals Asia.
Though she is a small dog, Lelly’s unwavering spirit and determination prove that nothing can break her. She is a true symbol of perseverance in the face of adversity.
