This Man Quit His Job to Travel the Country and Rescue Dogs from Shelters

Lee Asher, who grew up in Los Angeles, California, was raised in a unique household surrounded by nine rescued animals. From a young age, he knew his calling was to help animals in need, and over the years, he has rescued a total of 16.

As a child, Asher spent much of his time at a local animal shelter, learning about the rescue process. This experience shaped his passion and made him realize that his life’s mission was to save animals and help them find loving homes.

He has opened his home to seven dogs—Yaffa, Molly, Cali, BoBo, Butters, Haven, and Lillie—along with two cats, Whiskey and Goose.

Throughout his life, Asher has been dedicated to helping animals in need. Each of his pets was rescued from different forms of abandonment, and thanks to him, they now live happy and fulfilling lives.

“My motivation comes from my love for dogs and the understanding that rescuing one not only saves a life but also creates space for other animals in need to be adopted. It’s a rewarding experience that brings immense joy.”
