9-Year-Old Raises Nearly $80,000 to Buy Bulletproof Vests for Police Dogs

While many kids dream of becoming police officers when they grow up, 9-year-old Brady Snakovsky from Strongsville, Ohio, is already making a difference in law enforcement.

Brady, a third-grader with big aspirations of joining the police force, was inspired to take action after watching his favorite TV show, Live PD. When he noticed that one of the K-9 officers featured on the show was not wearing a bulletproof vest, he knew he had to help.

Brady asked his mom if they could buy a vest for a police dog in need. However, they soon discovered that these protective vests cost around $1,200 each—a steep price. Undeterred, Brady and his mother, Leah Tornabene, decided to take action by founding a nonprofit organization called Brady’s K9 Fund and launching a GoFundMe campaign to raise money.

The response has been overwhelming. Thanks to generous donors, Brady has raised over $77,000 and has provided 79 protective vests to K-9 officers across the country. Among the beneficiaries is the Mendon Police Department, which expressed their gratitude in a heartfelt tweet:

“K9 Officer Pichel and K9 Brady would like to thank a very special boy, Brady Snakovsky, for donating a LOF Defence Road Fighter Vest to the Mendon Police Department K9 Unit.”

Brady’s mission is far from over. He hopes to one day ensure that every K-9 officer in the country has the protection they need to stay safe in the line of duty.
