Valinda Cortez was on her way to a store in North Carolina when she encountered a heartbreaking sight—an abandoned dog, drenched by the rain, with an expression of despair and resignation. The small, trembling creature, its fur soaked and its body shivering, looked as if it had completely lost hope.
“As soon as I stepped out of my car, my heart sank,” Valinda recalled. “This poor girl had been left out in the cold and rain for far too long. She looked so discouraged, so defeated. It was clear she had been abandoned.”
Overcome with compassion, Valinda knew she had to help. She approached cautiously, careful not to startle the fragile pup. Gently, she wrapped the dog in a warm blanket, shielding her from the cold.
