After enduring unimaginable hardships, Maggie, a 5-year-old dog, has defied the odds. Once a victim of extreme cruelty, she has not only survived but also found a loving home and become a registered therapy dog.
Animals have a way of teaching us valuable lessons, often showing resilience and love in ways we may never have expected. Maggie’s journey is a testament to that belief. At just five years old, she has endured more than most people could fathom.
Maggie’s story gained global attention after she was discovered in Lebanon, having suffered horrific abuse. She had been shot 17 times, left blind with her eyes gouged out, her ear severed, and her jaw fractured. To make matters worse, she was also pregnant when she was abandoned on the streets.
Thankfully, Maggie’s story did not end in tragedy. She was rescued by the Wild at Heart Foundation and later adopted by a compassionate animal lover named Kasey, who brought her to Brighton, United Kingdom.
Despite the suffering she endured, Maggie blossomed under Kasey’s care and eventually became a certified therapy dog. She now has a significant following on Instagram, spreading inspiration to thousands.
“This person in Lebanon reached out for help, and a woman in London saw the post and took action,” Kasey told The Argus. “When I saw Maggie’s photo, I knew I had to help.”
After a six-month-long effort, Maggie was finally able to leave Lebanon. Today, she is thriving. With 80,000 social media followers, Maggie dedicates her time to visiting hospitals, nursing homes, and universities, providing comfort and hope to those in need.
Having passed all necessary tests, Maggie is now a certified therapy dog with Underdog International. “She and I will be speaking at schools and working directly with young people,” Kasey said. “What happened to Maggie was horrific, but if her story can educate and inspire others to do good, then we can help make the world a little brighter.”
